Super super interesting and relevant. Particularly for anyone who has heard of prison abolitionism but has wondered what that really is about or what it would entain. Provides tremendous insight into how the criminal "justice" system is not built nor able in most cases to deliver justice, and we need to imagine and create real means outside of this system to prevent harm and foster healing.

A tremendous window into what the lived experience of a refugee and recent immigrant can be like. Its page-long chapters are pieces of humanity and art. I loved that these dives into the characters' lives are so brief and concise that they enable one to put down to the book in moments of awe or overwhelm, to take a pause of minutes or days to digest all the feels and mundane and exceptional poignancy of this story
