These are cozy reads but sometimes one of them touches really sensitive issues and when they do it is always with the most tender care.

I don't know how this mess is going to be brought to healing. I believe it will, but how? A mother and her children must find peace after the father of the family married another .... This is messy...it is so like what we see over and over in society. So my hope is that what we find as we read is a better way to navigate this type of mess. I have faith we will!

I almost left this book...the beginning was so sad. We see mom leave in the beginning of this book...and a typewriter break their one rule...not to reveal what has been typed on it ...in order to help find her.
Suddenly...I want to continue

This has been a fun read. I enjoyed the first half where we got to know the characters and saw how each one felt about their own jobs and ministries. It was encouraging to see the prayer of a good friend modeled in the book. I don't know how I feel about the age difference between the love interests....but the story as a whole is fun and warm and a welcome rest when overwhelmed a bit by the daily chaos.

So far this has caught my attention. Fast paced. Danger. Already the characters are being developed. I love that we are really getting to know the characters early in the novel.

Just getting started but these are lots of wholesome fun so far. No murder mystery here. These are made for people who don't want that. Instead they are Mayberry level goodness. I am looking forward to continuing on.

This book has me. I am there. In Highlands. I love these people with all my heart. I feel like I take part in every moment with them. I cry. I laugh. I get confused. I cheer them on. I grieve. There are so many lessons to learn and so much rich depth to gain. It's the kind of story you never leave.

This book is so much fun! It feels like a great conversation with a good friend. I love the relationships. That day when the don child showed up....it really did sound like something I would do. Totally. It's clean but it's not stuffy. It's funny and comfortable. I just feel like I am friends...really good friends...with this book.

This is different than what I normally read. I saw negative reviews and almost didn't read it. I think what I have gotten out of this is just how our own desires and plans can get us in to such dark places. What we want is not always what we are meant to have and if we fight for it anyway we lose our ability to judge right from wrong.
And by this point I have determined who I think the real killer is 😳

I love this book but I hate this book. The headmaster is just terrible. So judgmental and filled with hate toward these little kids. I am so grateful they have Ms. Temple. There would be no hope otherwise.

Tears followed my reading today. I am so moved by the way these people are teaching this young woman who has never known this kind of life. If only we could all be like the people of Prairie.

Very interesting! I really hope to clean some real history out of this. I was thinking about how sad it would have been leaving family and friends knowing you wouldn't see them again. No one made light decisions for sure!

Went back to this one... I find it so comforting. I want the characters to do well. I want to warn the good folks about the bad plans. I can just see the snow and feel the cold... especially today! Great read!

This begins slowly....so for those who dnf a book shortly in...give it a minute. I keep wondering what the catch is. Where is she REALLY? This place seems heavenly and healing...so it can't last ... RIGHT!?!?!? What is going to happen?

This is truly strange. I feel sad for this child who has lost the last person who was truly kind to her. Did she make up this child or is she an angel? I hope for answers!

Looking forward to a deep read. This author wrote this book because she saw parallels between the 1930's and today. I am here to learn.

Learning so much about the area these characters live. Poor Laura! I believe her character is so much stronger than those she lives with. I can't imagine they would have the patience to be treated as she is. This gentleman she has nursed back to health... Much about him is confusing. He is private...and I think people often mistake being private for being sneaky....in this world of tell all whether it's true or not.

This is a tough subject. I have to take this book in small doses. The writing is good. I feel what the characters feel. I am already searching through the people I have this far "seen" wondering who may have taken this child and hoping Ben is ok.

A worthy read.... Spies and danger...I wasn't sure who was "safe" with each new character. I can only imagine what it would have been like for those truly present. It just keeps getting more tense!

Right off we are spooked and wondering who out of the people we are meeting are "the guy" because we know one of them is. A secondary story is developing...one of our true crime junkies has some unfinished business we haven't heard about in previous books of this series.

So far the writing is good. This begins before the Great War. It begins right off creating questions in your mind about why certain words are being cast aside to be forgotten. I don't know anything about this book. Taking it as it comes.
