The set up is sweet; a touch of the fantastical. Not in the sense of fantasy or even magical realism, but Zevin’s prose manage to create enthralling heart beat imagery where the world teeters in slow motion before resuming.

The dialogue is smart. Felt immediately representative of who these characters are.
