naming the love interest wendell bambleby is such a bold move.

lots of YA fantasy falls to the “this sixteen year old acts like a 30 year old and is feared by everyone” trope. love that this book acknowledges and stresses how tragic the youth of the characters really is and how scary things really are.

actually a despicable place to have to leave off on this is terrible. i feel real and genuine dread.

never letting us know the exact timeline of things within different character povs has paid off SO WELL for this series
