Great memoir and book thus far

As I hoped the world is built the plot is running

I really do like when she writes about butter

Yes she’s smoking with a wizard and two steer in the middle of a sandstorm outrunning the government for murder with some trad guy.. but why are YOU sometimes talking to me in the 2nd person?!

Essence of Margaret Atwood’s “The Edible Woman”… w murder?

I’m getting the feeling there are no star crossed hockey players in this book….

Frustratingly accurate depiction of bureaucratic sexism and class struggle in a society that happens to have elemental magic. The believable male pattern abuse at home and socially that leads to uprisings makes me believe the female characters varied responses. I believe the characters personalities which is refreshing in fantasy. This book took a while to pick up but I’m already thinking about the sequel.

Magic and misogyny, it’s all believable really

Short chapters, diabolical dialogue. Needed this.

Full of unique and vivid Kazakh imagery and super emotionally visceral, being a woman can be so scary- an important collection this far
