Book has been great so far but I left it in MA (2.75 hours away) and I am sad

After a brief (seven month) break I’m back to reading. Trying a physical copy this time as opposed to an audiobook. Ironically, I don’t know if I’ll be able to “focus” enough to get through this but I’m going to try my damnedest

Reading

Trying to educate myself on a topic I’m not well versed in

Thrilling yet perplexing as I search for an appropriate motive in my head. In modern times we would be studying this from a more psychological standpoint cause these guys are fucked lol. Also, I’m beginning to talk like a southern gentleman from the 1950s

Enjoying it so far. Spends a great deal of time painting a picture of small town farm life in middle America. It becomes sinister tho 🫣

I think it’s getting worse

Sucks

I feel like the author has said the same exact thing in 64 different ways. It’s like the same shit every page. He’s like “hey how many times can I say the same exact thing using slightly different words.” Wtf

Although it can be hard to follow (many different names that are all hard to distinguish from one another) I found the story to be quite captivating. Emerging hero Thomas White was a joy to learn about. Also interesting to hear about Hoovers “legacy” and the birth of the FBI. Starting part 3 rn

Marvelous writing

Ok so what I’m gathering:
-Massive companies use tax avoidance to save billions.
- “Exploit” is used no less than 600,000 times.
- States use their welfare money towards dumb shit.
- Providing free child care is directly correlated to improving poverty

Hard to follow and jumps around a lot. Not sure how I feel about it. Some good stuff tho
