Ch 12: We head downstairs to the bar when we learn a lot from Andrew Smith. Jet’s mother got his daughter Nina fired from her job, and she killed herself 2 days later. Luke bought Andrew’s home off of him and tore it down for new development. And the house was at River st and North. So now we’re going to North st.

A couple more chapters and we discover that Andrew Smith was wearing the same wig as JJ that night, making both of them suspects. We also learn that Luke lied both what happened to his hands Friday morning because the photos that Owen Clay took at the Halloween fair prove that he was fine. So what was he up to with Sophia?

3 chapters later, Jet gets into a fight at breakfast with her mother, resulting in her moving out. She continues to look at River street after moving in with Billy and discovers a loan taken out on her truck in her name. Jet goes to the police station and finds out that a red hair found at the scene is from a red wig, which JJ was wearing that night. All signs point to JJ at the moment.

Jet notices that Sophia came back to the hour which an hour of each visit. Suspicious but not enough to raise concern. I’m not sure if she’s involved but I think it will definitely come back into play laterv

Here we see the first bits of banter between Rowan and Neil. Already starting strong with morning insults.

After 3 life-threatening blows to the head, a timeline of one week left to live and combing through the crime scene, Jet has discovered that this was a targeted attack on her life. The back door to the house was possibly unlocked, the attacker brought the murder weapon with them, and hit her a third time after she was already on the ground. Her Apple Watch proves that the time of the attack was 10:46pm.

We see more of the dynamic between Claire and her husband Paul, up until the brutal armed robbery leading to Paul’s death. Then we see Lydia Delgado’s life with her daughter Dee, her boyfriend Rick, and her hate for the Scotts (Claire and Paul).

Right now, we are seeing the dynamics of Claire and her husband (?), along with the background of how she became an ex-con.

Jack has spoken to Cole and claims there is a larger group behind Gabe’s murder; that Gabe found a zero-day exploit into a big company and instead of being paid for it, the cybercriminals killed him and stole it. But Hel has convinced her the Cole is in on it because how else did he know Gabe’s life was in danger? She thinks Gabe was gonna tell the authorities about the back door but they wanted to keep it open.

Jack has devised a plan to break into Sunsmile Insurance and treat it like any other pen test. After impersonating someone who fits her description, she found a call recording with Cole talks to the insurance worker, leaving Jack very confused. Later, security discovers there was an intruder but she makes it out unseen.

I’m not sure how long ago I did an update but just finished Ch. 14, John’s prison transport and “initiation”. Like most prisons, he was taken advantage of my his cellmate and traded around for contraband. After being admitted to the prison hospital, his father came to see and pretty much told him that Mary Alice felt worse pain except John deserves it.

We learn a lot more about John. He’s been working at a car wash since he got out. On this day, his coworker Ray got into it with a hooker. He stepped in to defend her and ended in walking her back to work and surprisingly not losing his job. At the shop, he conversed with the bartender. She ended up working him and almost went to a room. But instead they talked and he reflected on his only kiss with Mary Alice.

About 30 years later, we met John Shelley who was convicted for the murder of Mary Alice. We learn about his past and what led him to this moment, but not if he committed the crime.

We discover not only has the serial killer diverted from his MO, targeting an older black woman, but another teenage white girl. Someone Michael knew personally who had just turned 15.

Michael learns a bit about Trent’s past; being “vultured” on his case as a detective a few years ago. He also discovers that he’s very closed off and is threatened by his presence, especially since he inserted himself into the case.

Finally, we meet Will Trent. Here from the GBI to assist Michael Orewood (?) and Tim with the cases of the beaten teenage girl with the bitten tongue. Will explains to Michael the pattern of 3 other girls who suffered the same MO.

We discover Michael, who is not only in the middle of a homicide where the victim’s tongue was bitten off, but we also see the trouble in paradise. Tension at home with his wife, the pressure of his kid Tim and his medical condition, and the beginning of an affair with his neighbour.
