Much better than the last book!

GumGum :(. Loving this series, everything feels so natural yet random.

Yeah this is going to become a favorite series. I have needed this easy reading change of pace from some of the complex fantasy this year

Why is this book kinda wholesome. I love the tone.

Alright I’m sold on the hype.

This book just reads so smoothly. But if I had a nickel for every character Islington likes to give a hidden identity…. I’d have a lot of nickels

I love the parallels of Thomin and Sciona

I like the vibes, I like the characters even though I feel like I don’t know much about them. But I really don’t know where this is going

The backstory reveals are insane, why would you go to hell for this man

I’m convinced people who said this reads like a textbook haven’t read a textbook in a while. Very smooth read and funny premise

The plot is all over the place but I really like the main cast so it’s been a confusing ride but still good

Might be a little lost at the grand implications the plot points have on the story but man does Islington write really good plot twists

I love the sense of adventure I’m getting here, Islington is so good at placing these small reveals for the magic and the background of these characters. I wish it wasn’t all pretty much tied to memory loss but it’s still very fun.

Now I get the hype, it’s just big reveal after big reveal and it’s not skipping a beat

I prefer the direction this was going Davian and Wirr having the same POV made it really hard for Davian to develop

I love this story but everything feels so vague and idk if that’s intentional or what

This book really just takes you along for the adventure, not a lot of time spent in the world or magic yet because not even the main character knows what’s going on

Speaker reminds me so much of Rocky from Hail Mary

Similar vibes with Project Hail Mary without all of the charm. Mickey is very fun though and honestly tragic for a book with this comedic tone.

There’s been some great moments but a good 80% of this book so far has been set-up, posturing, or troops moving to x place that’s under siege. I need some pay off.

Halfway through this monster of a book and I have some thoughts. Most of my complains with the writing being repetitive are gone but there’s a few times it’s noticeable. Kira and Ella’s POVs aren’t the strongest, great world building and lore development but don’t feel connected to what’s going on. Action is top notch. Dahlen, Erik and Dann are great supporting characters. Calen is the coolest.

The knights of Achyron spend half the time being angry and fighting and the other half aura farming. I wouldn’t have it any other way

There’s so much depth to the history of this world that I was not expecting. The mystery of the library remains very interesting
