Really loving this read. I find myself smiling on the subway as I read along. I know ahead like sadness and some heartache, but I love the innocence of the characters and the unfolding story.

It dawned on me while reading today, that Neil Gaiman is much like Roald Dahl. Their minds are so creative and fantastical that it does you no good to try and figure out where the story is going. I have to sit back and let go, and let the delightfully convoluted chain of events take place, showing me places that pop into being and poof! away again as soon as I turn the page.

I love listening to Neil read. It's like I have a celebrity guest tucker-inner whispering fantastic tales in my ear.

I'm not enjoying this book at all really, but I keep thinking I just haven't enough of it yet to grip me. I'm halfway done. When is it going to get interesting? This book is a chore to read. Perhaps I'm just sick of reading single bookish types who are inexplicably drawn to solve mysteries? I need a new mystery protagonist type. Any suggestions?

1st of 11 shorts for the 11 Doctors. I'm not enjoying it. I'm sure a lot of fan will like the many references to future doctors, but this doctor's storyline feels too tainted with current doctor story events.
