Is this supposed to be deep? wtf is going on here? Why am I 151 pages in and nothing is happening? How does this book have almost 5 stars?!

Do we really need 9 freaking pages detailing Kissy destroying a totem? I mean really?

I want to stay on page 459 where it’s safe forever 😭

You know it’s bad when you can skim 30+ pages and not be any further along in the story.

I’m always talking shit about slow burns or not enough smut and then this one gets spicy right off the bat and I’m like *scoff* this fuckin hussy completely unbelievable

I just can’t seem to pull myself through this book. The plot is interesting *ish* and I care about the characters *kinda* but there are just too many red threads to follow and stay engaged, and not enough happening fast enough to keep it exciting. Theres also not enough humor or sex to provide some relief from the stress and drama. Maybe I’ll come back to it if I get bored enough.

I usually love Holly Black *because* her stories and characters are bizarre but this series is a stretch even for me..
Accidentally picked up Ironside before this and read about 20 pages before peeking at the reviews and realizing that’s supposed to be third, and yet it picked up right where book 1 left off. 125 pages into book 2 and I’m still wondering why the hell any of this is relevant. 😒

I already hate this book 😒 Malin and Kase’s story is the worst so far.
