‘Deep Work’ is helpful in reminding me of the very very focused and productive tactics I used in my undergraduate industrial engineering degree and high school studies. I’m recovering and advancing those skills aided by the rules and hints from this startling, informative, research based and well written book.

"What on earth will I learn from another book that seems to be about creative processes?... Surely I'm a natural creative, and I've read enough books on that topic?" However, a generous skim of the Table of Contents and Preface persuaded me to venture further. I'm intrigued by Gregerson's assertion that so many kids at school and mid-level workers have questioning behaviour crushed out of them..

For reference only as we underwent our early stage launch. Very helpful in having us maintain the quality of our product platform during the early launch, as unexpected problems emerged needing to be solved.

Now, this IS a page turner. Thanks to the NZ Listener review that excited my interest. The fury of JF Kennedy over the CIA-sponsored Cuba Bay of Pigs ‘disaster’. The truth behind the rogue (?) agent CIA connection with Lee Harvey Oswald elicited here... a connection established three years before JFK’s assassination by Oswald. Plausible deniability?

I had the privilege of visiting Hawai earlier this year. Michener's book is just wonderful for gaining some sense of the 'backstory' to how this unusual community developed. I love the weaving together of the Polynesian, New England, trader-captain, and Chinese influences.

This book has been on my shelves for many years. I have dipped in and out as a reference on several occasions. However, I recently saw the magnificent movie Dunkirk which compelled me to find out the backstory and aftermath to that near catastrophe. Consequently, with this book in hand I began reading with increased impulsiveness through to the battle of Crete, Chapter XX, p. 105. Then I restarted from page 1!

Continued.

Every page of this book surprises, yet saddens me as I anticipate future chapters that will report on the antecedents to breakdown, wars, land confiscation, and justice.

Each page makes me weep for what might have been.... what might have been for the proactive and enterprising indigenous Māori people of the Waikato as they established food supplies and labor to help the early European New Zealand colonists succeed with their lives in New Zealand Aotearoa.

Gosh! Wow! Elon Musk demonstrates to the extreme degree the FACETS of a parallel high achieving entrepreneur. FOCUS, ACHIEVEMENT, CREATIVE problem solving and high aesthetic design sense, EGO (Self-assured), TEAM-BUILDER and leader, SOCIAL PURPOSE. It is so rare to see these FACETS portrayed so vividly, extremely, and competently in one person. Exhilarating book. Note: see Bolton and Thompson 2000

Silly but fun. There's a message here and it fits with the life I've been leading since I offered to resign my job thereby taking a Gabbatical last December.
