I believe that we are heading toward a Kai/Pae/Kitt love triangle, simply because that's exactly what had happened in Red Queen. However, I would rather read some Kai/Kitt Boy's Love just for the fun of it. LOL

Now I realize I still know nothing about the heroine, Pae's character aside from her losing a father and caring deeply for her 'found family' younger sister Adena?

I am officially starting to skim.

The 'enemies to lovers' chemistry the author trying to create just feels so forced

It's the Red Queen, The Hunger Games and The Selection all over again.

Plus the whole point of the young king to go to the Cathedral is to get insight on how to overcome a bad omen and avoid a really bad future, but where is this subplot now!? It got shoved to the background or something?

A lot of tell, not show, as usual.

Still, to be fair this meeting scene is more eventful and gripping than RQ.

I can't believe it, the scene with the heroine bumping into a freaking prince in the slum from Red Queen gotten copy-and-paste into this book. Ah la la how many princes would likely to visit a slum anyway?

Conspiracy within conspiracy.

I am only 10 pages into the book, the world building is intriguing, but I don't like the heroine's personality so much...perhaps I just have issues with cocky heroines.

The evil King somehow decided that instead of keeping the powerless Ordinary people around as slave labors or servants (or at least build a settlement to isolated them from the Elites but keeping them as slaves/labors/servants), he would just...kill them all off? Killing off all this workforce? Does it even make sense?

So far so good it's easy to read.

Just how many fantasy novel heroes out there are called 'Kai' at the moment!?

I don't really understand Paul's choice but at the same time I can...?

Now they solved the mystery of the girl-ghost.

Finally some action.
