At the 37th percentile of of the book, the battle of Gettysburg is just getting underway; which is not the place Robert E. Lee or George Meade wanted to fight one another. And, on top of everything else, Lee is distraught about his missing cavalry general, the legendary Jeb Stuart; while Meade has just learned that his top general, John Reynolds, has been killed in the initial battle.
