I should have been putting in more time to finish this during black history month... But here we are. What do you expect the month Civ7 comes out?

I know this is historical fiction, but of course, I have to assume all of these things did happen to people and it's just so gut wrenching. And really not that long ago.

I do wish this was required reading. It's expertly written. Love the little stories.

It's definitely picked up since the first bit. it's a fun setting, a school competition essentially. I was not enjoying the first 25%.

Also Author references something being terrify, like an eagle's scream. And I think perhaps he doesn't mean an eagle, because the eagles you hear on TV are actually a red tailed hawk. Eagles sound dumb and shrilly.

So, what the heck is even going on lol. I get the overall picture and I get the individual character stories... But man, some of the stuff is just so unapologetically random. I have to tell myself that reading the same paragraph slowly 3 times won't help me comprehend because it's just made up races and gods that haven't been introduced before that very paragraph where they're suddenly mixed in with no background.

I remember why the first book took me so long lol. You really have to concentrate on reading every word. You can't let your mind accidentally think about something else or you'll miss so much detail and have to read it again.

Looking forward to figuring out more of this complex and crazy world though.
