Don’t tell my therapist but I stayed up a lil too late like 1:30am listening to this book because of course I hit THE PARTS.
I thoroughly enjoy how well Rawnie explores the sins with her writing. She creates these embodiments of masterfully balanced (though they don’t think themselves) demons. It illustrates how human we all are with our own demons inside. Somehow I read each book exactly when I need it.

This is so cozy, the format of the plot is unlike the others making it engaging. I am like wtf tho at Vex, ya know, being a stalker in a sense but suspend ur disbelief because it’s literally what she’s created for and she thinks of herself as a spy. Also they cutie girls together

The smut in this book is rivaling KoS. I want to write Rawnie Sabor a thank you letter, it’s so fun.

90% and they’re JUST getting spicy and IT WAS WORTH IT because the secret Luke keeps is spicier than their chemistry - ALMOST. It adds depth to the entire book, the importance is not on the relationship romantically unfolding in time, it’s the journey along the way like the cheesy tale as old as time.

Based off nothing but my own heart, this book was wholly inspired by the scene in Mulan (1998 Dir. Tony Bancroft) wherein she accidentally exposes her bindings to Shang when the lil rat Shan-Yu grabs her and proclaims, “I knew there was something wrong with you… A WOMANNNNN!” *rips out hair tie*

Mulan is so gay and trans positive but still misogyny reigns - while a Chinese story, it’s so American <3

They really be naming this horse Measles when the book is about the Oregon trail.

I am finding I do enjoy fantasy of kinds, but when it’s wrapped in modern day - the same reason people like romance books in general, they’re not realistic but they’re accessible and fun.

I love this connection of chemistry wherein they barely talk to each other but the knowing due to dreams is there. The familiarity. Oooooweee

If there’s gonna be a third act breakup it better happen but I can’t even expect it because I love that Rachel Lacey doesn’t usually do that to us she instead usually creates a wonderful issue to be solved and relationship to transcend and I’m waiting and ready

Rachel Lacey writes good books - they’re cute but I also want her to give me just a lil more emotional depth - she does that in Learning Curves which is so fun - here the characters normal emotions and problems aren’t as explored deeply compared to that.

Lighter fluffier than expected - I thought I was getting continental breakfast Sodexo bag scrambled eggs but it’s like Gordon Ramsay.

Josie’s audacity to get after what she needs and be fine with rejection is something I strive for - I want that confidence.

Also every time I read a Rachel Lacey book I learn intricacies of another special interest and I wish I could ask her if that’s how she creates her storyline. Loved pottery? Great here’s Learning Curves. Cat rescue? Fabulous, here’s Don’t Cry For Me!

I hope that the other books are from Gianna’s perspective because I gotta know how hard this girl obvi crushing also I’m worried about Riley because why she not taking care of her we don’t see the depth of her - like I would be freaking out about losing my being in love with my best friend

Yall I be falling for tropes and Haley Cass got me flipped upside down like the fresh prince getting sent to bel-Air because I never done the friends to more trope books - a nice twist but Obvi to others and Lori Prince immersing me in these books like no other as always.
