Tolkien does such an incredible job of putting into words the core of why and how beautiful things are made and why they are oft not reproduced.

One short story down, and I am no longer annoyed by Hastings but rather enjoying the process of Poirot making a fool of him.

These early chapters have so many memorable quotes, and they always make me want to go tramping off on an adventure in the cool of an autumn evening.

After almost a year, I finally picked up the book again to continue, now that Tolkien Club has arrived to it.

I will now be attempting to add “fain” (pleased) and “limpid” (clear, transparent) to my vocabulary. Also the name Tinfang Warble is such a perfect name for a minstrel and is going to live in my head rent free.
