Chapter 5:

A few of Scott’s friends or teammates heard that he put in a basketball court and they came over to play. Scott immediately looked at Nick and said get lost. Nick was so mad. Jealous even. He wanted the other players to beat Scott, but what his dad was teaching him was actually finally paying off. Nick’s now questioning if the game is in him and how bad he wants it.

Chapter 4:

The court is in, and the boys are loving it. The dad plays with the boys after work, but “plays” is not for Scott. This is Nick’s older brother and he’s a senior on the varsity team. His dad keeps riding him to pay attention to play better and to commit to the game. He wants him to be great, but his heart isn’t all the way in it. What he really loves is playing his trumpet. A lot of bickering.

Chapter 3

Mom is not happy with dad for going behind her back in laying down the basketball court. She loved her Rose garden, but what she loves more is her two boys and their happiness. She ask them if they’re excited about the court, they replied, yes, and she smiled , putting her own thoughts and emotions in 2nd place behind her boys. But damn she’s still mad at the husband, dude‘s low-key psycho.

Chapter 2:

Well, this one hits home lol. We’re introduced to Nick‘s parents and they are already arguing. It’s mainly the father, who apparently had his basketball career taken from him. Nick‘s older brother Zach plays for the local high school team, but his father believes he doesn’t give 100% that eats at his dad. What makes it more upset is his mom encouraging it. The dad wants a court in the backyard.

Just finished with Chapter 1. We meet Nick who is the main protagonist. He’s just a kid who wants nothing more but to be great at the game. Working tirelessly to make it happen. His biggest challenge is his new neighbor Trent. They come up from very different backgrounds. Nick - loving family / Trent - trouble with police and mom’s problems. So far seems like a great pick for me.
