About halfway through and I just want to say this is a really really good book. I get it. Like this is THE book. Highly recommend. I am eating it up (and tandem reading Dungeon Crawler Carl because I have layers)

I know that books sometimes need to start somewhere difficult so we can grow out of the bad into the good, but this is so, so, so hard to read.

I know it’s for plot growth but I can’t deal.

I am loving this book BUT had to share that I just figured out how I know this author and it’s that he’s in literally every movie and show ever? Like Stephen Fry wtf how many lives have you lived why are you writing a book on Greek mythology? Go back to being a psychologist in Bones.

I love Melissa Broder’s writing so much. She is not for everyone at ALL (and I love reading through the negative reviews) but I love her.

The only thing I’m stressing about reading this book is that there’s a diabetic dog who is being ignored. I can’t handle that

I actually fuck with this rn okay? The trials and things on the Isles are silly and fun. No it’s not perfect but 100 times better than the first 200 pages. And I can’t keep seeing these bad reviews they’re impacting me.

I’m so worried for the end of this book I feel like shots going to be horrible

I am… conflicted. There’s a lot going on and characters are behaving in weird ways and I feel like I’m not going to be able to see them in the same way again.

Also the writing is not where it needs to be girl.

GUYS. Oh my gosh. Listen to this book. It’s fascinating. (You could read it but the audiobook is by Julia so you kind of have to listen)

I was scared to read this because I thought it would be TMI but so far it’s clean besides the 5000 times they say fuck or shit. The plot is a lot like Crescent City with the missing best friend, interspecies conflicts, MC who is sooo quirky and different. But here she has no clue the main guy is obviously into her.

But it’s cute, I like it. I wish it was dual POV though.

Chapter 28 (kaz doing inej’s bandages) was one of the most beautifully done moments of true closeness and intimacy I’ve read in a really long time. Might not be book of the year but that shit was beautiful

Book is so good. Emotions are emotioning. The plot is at a point where we’re feeling like there’s no hope for the protagonist to beat the villain and there must be deaths of our fave characters. A lot of fantasy books I’ve read recently reach this point and then some random out of the box person/idea saves the day at the last moment and I’m hoping this ending is more creative.
