I hate to admit it, but a good portion of the Earthseed concepts are going right over my head. I could be overthinking them, but I’d better consult Sparknotes just to be sure 😢

Truly one of the most oddly-specific, yet relatable lines I have ever read.

Awesome pieces of information and perspectives in this section, particularly about the influence of Romanticism, obsession with folklore, and theories of common origin in early attempts by Europeans to document Polynesian culture.

You get past page 300, and you are hit with sad thing after sad thing. It is packed with two kinds of griefs at the same time: grieving someone who is dead and grieving someone who is dead to you. Grieving the love you once shared is near impossible in both instances. Now I’m just a sad little puddle crumbling under this emotional weight.
