I'm not sure how to feel about this book. It became interesting when the fox appeared, but overall, it carries a strange, unsettling tone. The atmosphere feels pessimistic and dystopian, as if something is always missing, and someone is constantly getting hurt.

The sibling dynamics in Not a Happy Family are unsettling. I get it’s a dysfunctional, wealthy family with a controlling father, but aren’t siblings supposed to stick together? Fred and Audrey did, and their situation was worse. Rose being left out of the investigation for so long felt unrealistic—weren’t Jenna and Jake the last to see the parents alive? Also, Dan is unbearable; Lisa should leave him. Wtf dude
