Forugh in Persian means "eternal light". Forugh Farrokhazad was born in 1935 in Iran. She lived a short life, but her poetry, her films, her independent lifestyle, her sacrifices and the story of her life lives on. When I picked this book up, I didn't have any idea what it was about. It's a beautifully written book about a very brave and strong woman who knew the risks she was taking and she wouldn't be stopped.

Bridget has written this book from her heart. During her darkest days when she was dealing with resistance from multiple situations, she found a passion in knitting that helped her survive. This book makes you angry at how cruel adults can be and yet, you can win over the challenges. There is enough humor written to keep the reader cheering.

This is a tough story to read, but it certainly should be read. We hear about these situations and we take them at face value. This book allows you to feel the emotions and reasoning of the participants.

Throughout the book, I kept changing my mind as to who was the murderer and was quite surprised at the ending. I really enjoyed reading this book and couldn't put it down.

I couldn't put this book down. I told people about it before I finished it (no spoilers given). This book was unlike anything I've ever read before. 1940, a devastating time for France. The German's have invaded and the British are fleeing back to England. This book was written about actual people an facts. The courage and sacrifices of the people living in Europe during WWII are beyond my imagination. Judithe did a wonderful job of allowing us to know a few of those who lived through this period. This is a funny, funny book. Kate, the central figure, is married, has 2 teenage children and is about to turn 50 years old. She is going through many changes and manages to do it with great humor for us...not so laughable on her part. I truly enjoyed this novel.

A well-done fictional story of a young girl who survived a raid by the Kiowa Indians and lived as one of them for 4 years. She is found and has difficulty leaving her Kiowa life.
