I picked this up for a dollar at an old bookstore downtown. The book is a Biblical thesis on how people try to escape responsibility. I’m only a few pages in - AMAZING. Annotating the mess out of it so anyone I lend it to will get an eyeful of insight into my healing process after years of psychological abuse. I take responsibility for how I’ve participated in my own life!! I am accountable for my choices!

A little slow to start but then picks up the pace and begins to immerse and enmesh my imagination pretty well. This is a dystopian Roman post-apocalyptic universe and I’m glad for my early childhood Latin lessons to bring that’s extra panache to mind as the story flows. Even without any dead language knowledge the words and concepts repeated enough that anyone can catch on pretty quickly. Stay tuned!

Unnecessary strong language - but otherwise enjoyable. Almost makes me want to keep my cats. Almost. Anyone want to help me rehome my cats? They may be criminal masterminds… just saying.

Wrapped up the series too quickly. Only a trilogy and there is so much more to explore. I see Dakota merging these universes at some point. Or at least he should.

Dakota is a favorite author of easy to consume LitRPG. This time the development of the main character was a little infuriatingly slow. Otherwise a good new series after completing his Ritualist series.

Feeding my love of understanding language.

Love the newsflash type bursts through the narrative. Dystopian future written as if a historical account. Intriguing and entertaining.

I could devour this book in one sitting, but that won’t do it justice. A few pages at a time and let the emotions steep.

Moving slowly and meditatively …
