“up, simba” is perhaps the only 78-page essay I will ever say I found fascinating and riveting and didn’t want to end. and it was about one week on the McCain 2000 primary trail. a testament to DFW’s talent. god damn

I was reading on the metro this afternoon and the woman next to me turns and says “I think we’re reading the same book!” we swapped stories of the people who recommended the book to us and wished each other well on our respective reading journeys. it was such a lovely moment of serendipity. I love humans!
