Chapter 57: The bar fight karaoke scene is absolute gold.

Starting to wrap up this monster. So much happens in this book it is crazy. The timing of stuff just makes so much more sense in this compared to the show. I have read this before but now that I’ve watched the series so many times it’s easier to pick out the differences and there’s so much good stuff in this that they didn’t use in the show. I love this series and can’t wait to do the next 2 in tandem.

Chapter 21 🥵🔥

And now, farewell kindness, humanity and gratitude. Now the God of vengeance yields to me his power to punish the wicked.

Catelyn: This chapter was heart breaking, seeing her father in his dementia before death and then ending the chapter with receiving her husband’s bones. Had me in tears at the end.

I love getting my holds on Libby, it’s like a gift at the most random moment. Happy dance for book 2 from ASOIF.

I love it when a super hyped book doesn’t disappoint me. Finding this to be much funnier than expected, can’t put it down.

Starting to sound like a repeat of Fire and Blood when it comes to the conquest. Contemplating skipping a few chapters…

No one carries the best parts of themselves. The best parts are those held inside of others.

Ever wonder what it would be like to be swallowed by a sperm whale at the same time as a 30 foot giant squid. This book is painting a pretty vivid image & I am sucked in.

This book is pitch black and super fucked up.

When reality becomes too crushing, creating an elsewhere can free the soul.

Sobbing over here.

The bureaucracy of hatred spreads like infection.

Damn, this book is chipping away at my soul. Really anticipating how these two separate stories will come together.

I saw an article about this book and that Michiel Huisman is one of the narrators of the audiobook so that’s what brought me here. I didn’t expect it be so filled with eloquent wisdom, unexpected drawn in immediately. It’s the kind of beauty that has you reading with a lump in your throat trying not to sob for the entire time. Extra bonus points for the French accents.

The audiobook narrator is very enthusiastic but it can make some of the narration incredibly cringe. His Krampus sounds like a bad impression of Dracula. The story is meh, I’ve heard a few good things. Part of me wants to DNF but I’m not a quitter so I’ll finish it, even if it’s not a great one.

A little late but Libby audiobook just came available.

Every time you take one path, you must live with the memory of the other, of a life left unchosen. Decide as seems best, one course or the other. Each way will have its bitter with its sweet.

This series is so beautifully done, and is a wonderful winter read. It’s made me aware of Russian stoves which honestly look amazing and makes so much sense for such a cold country.

And now for something completely different ….

Chapter 41: The Ball was very eventful and their dance, couldn’t help but grin my way through it and the way she said she loves him, ugh it was so sweet.

Chapter 21: Fisher and Carrion bonding chapter, gave me all the feels.

The interaction between Tori meeting Ivan’s ex-wife Janet for the first time was pretty hilarious.

There are so many damn characters and they all have alter egos so it’s a little difficult to follow but I just keep looking up a character list so I can try and keep them all straight.

Even with so many characters they all seem to be unique and fleshed out, it’s pretty impressive.

Chapter 30 & 31 were a lot of fun, with tons of action and humor. The cheesy one liners are so good.

Like one who on a lonely road doth walk in fear and dread. And having once turned around walks on and turns no more his head because he knows a frightful fiend doth close behind him tread.
