This book is pitch black and super fucked up.

Damn, this book is chipping away at my soul. Really anticipating how these two separate stories will come together.

I saw an article about this book and that Michiel Huisman is one of the narrators of the audiobook so that’s what brought me here. I didn’t expect it be so filled with eloquent wisdom, unexpected drawn in immediately. It’s the kind of beauty that has you reading with a lump in your throat trying not to sob for the entire time. Extra bonus points for the French accents.

The audiobook narrator is very enthusiastic but it can make some of the narration incredibly cringe. His Krampus sounds like a bad impression of Dracula. The story is meh, I’ve heard a few good things. Part of me wants to DNF but I’m not a quitter so I’ll finish it, even if it’s not a great one.

A little late but Libby audiobook just came available.

Every time you take one path, you must live with the memory of the other, of a life left unchosen. Decide as seems best, one course or the other. Each way will have its bitter with its sweet.

This series is so beautifully done, and is a wonderful winter read. It’s made me aware of Russian stoves which honestly look amazing and makes so much sense for such a cold country.

And now for something completely different ….

Chapter 41: The Ball was very eventful and their dance, couldn’t help but grin my way through it and the way she said she loves him, ugh it was so sweet.

Chapter 21: Fisher and Carrion bonding chapter, gave me all the feels.

The interaction between Tori meeting Ivan’s ex-wife Janet for the first time was pretty hilarious.

There are so many damn characters and they all have alter egos so it’s a little difficult to follow but I just keep looking up a character list so I can try and keep them all straight.

Even with so many characters they all seem to be unique and fleshed out, it’s pretty impressive.

Chapter 30 & 31 were a lot of fun, with tons of action and humor. The cheesy one liners are so good.

Like one who on a lonely road doth walk in fear and dread. And having once turned around walks on and turns no more his head because he knows a frightful fiend doth close behind him tread.

Someday, I’ll love him in a moment that isn’t stolen.

When the yearning comes to an end but tears your heart out.

So far this is definitely living up to the hype.

Waited 5 weeks for this audiobook on Libby, it was worth it. I had started Manacled and couldn’t get into it when I heard that Alchemised is basically a rework of that story without all the copyright issues. I have to say that I prefer the changes from the little that I did read.

I love Leigh Bardugo and her audiobooks always include Lauren Fortgang, she’s really talented and I could probably listen to her just about anything but I especially like this one because the story is set in 16th century Spain so there are a lot of Spanish accents and words and they roll of her tongue beautifully.

I’m the patron saint of bad bitches!

Same story as Touch of Darkness but from Hades POV. Finding it to have a little more humor than ToD. Hermes is definitely my favorite from the whole series, he makes me laugh every time he speaks, almost.

This is what I needed. Brynne Weaver is such a great writer, there is always such great humor in her work, but even with the humor she can make you cry. Definitely loving this book.

Finding this to be a tedious read. All the journals and letters are so redundant. I dislike the meekness of the FMC, I understand that it’s part of the time period when it was written but I can’t help but feeling irritated by it. I intend on finishing the book but have to say I favor the movie a little more because of its modernization.

Finding this last book to be very enjoyable. Hermes is hilarious and I love it. So many new characters too. I think the subtle nods to the original mythology well done.

Ok, this one is so much more entertaining. Love all the FMCs hanging out and then a Mission Impossible meets Frankenstein type thing with the triplets and Hermes. Also just enjoying revisiting Circie since I recently Circie by Madeline Miller.
