A quick little read for me to reset my reading habits, just skimming this one over really.

So far i'm just intrigued, not quite sold. I'm sure it'll ramp up with time and come up with a conclusion that's mildly pulverising and then i'll rate it 3/5 and call it a day.

All I know about this book is the girl is possibly gone and it's possibly a man's fault for it.

Probably.

Wow. Just wow.

I've never had a book thrill me so much into the lives of 4 ordinary girls (and the many confused adults and men around them).

Watching the film was something I was always looking forward to and I'm glad I finished this right before I did.

The story here is so fresh and vivid and real - all of the character's are charming and I love Jo so very much.

Sisterhood is important - and so are women.

We're getting to the portion of the book where the sisters lives are starting to branch out and that's making me weary!

I'm still waiting on whether or not Laurie will have a confession moment with Jo - I think it's evident how he feels for her and how little she feels for him in that respect.

But I do really love the themes and the way the story flows - I'm excited for the end

Really interesting book to randomly pick up at work - I really enjoyed Kerry as a character and I think my favourite parts were definitely diving into his childhood and his career as a DV prosecutor.

The parts with John Musso & his mother were some of the most emotional moments in the book, and it gave me such an important glimpse into the real issues in society.

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would!

So endearing and beautifully real so far, I cant wait for the action to really pick up towards the next few chapters of the story and I'm really looking forward to finally watching the movie once I'm done with this!

Okay, this was way better than what I expected from a classical book and had an unexpected ending, surprisingly.

I felt so moved by the last chapter especially in May's quotation to Dallas. Their love may not have been passion but it was love regardless. “She said she knew we were safe with you, and always would be, because once, when she asked you to, you'd given up the thing you most wanted.”

I loved Ellen too.

Haymitch Abernathy is one of my absolute favourite characters within this entire franchise, and so this book could either make or break me. OR BOTH.

I love seeing the earlier hunger games. With TBOSAS the most refreshing part was to see how the games functioned in a time where there is NO hero, there is only suffering.

We know who the victor is, of course, but how'd he get there? I'm so excited to know.

Little Women! Another classical book that denotes most of its pop-culture fame to the movie adaptation, yippee!

Jokes aside I'm glad the movie made this book so popular cause now here I am! Reading it. I'm not expecting it to be an absolute marvel in feminist society but it will be refreshing to see how a 19th century woman describes her ideals of other women within that 19th century world.

Is Timothee here too?

Right well I can discern that Madeline Miller is just not for me.

I dont know how she always manages to make the most intricate stories become so bland and unlikeable.

I wanted to like Circe as a character, fuck, I think I actually DO in the original greek mythos but I couldn't give more of a fuck about her in this. She's so bland and annoying and everything here feels so forced and fake.

I just do NOT like this.

Okay another Madeline Miller book.

Unlike TSOA, I am not familiar with the story of Circe and so I am sure that I will be less able to tell where the predictable end is going to lead and the ways the author tries to shove the tragedy of it down my throat. Let's hope she's learned from that mistake and fails to do it regardless.

I hate the feeling of being forced to feel. I know how to feel, just make it happen.

I mean, okay.

A story with some sort of moral code cascadaed around religion and spirituality - I guess that's never been done before! I dont know why celebrities feel the need to herald this book as if it's one of a kind when it is simply a sort of kids book disguised as being meant for adults to rethink their lives.

Adults know these sorts of things, this is just to remind them, which is lacklustre in my opinion.

Heard a lot about this book from celebrities who try to seem personal and down to earth.

And also heard a lot about how this book does nothing to serve something interesting and just lies within mediocrity as long as it possibly can.

So, that's something.

I'll see how I feel about it after reading.

Okay. it's okay i guess

I had to speed read this just to finish it and i'm a bit mad that Violet didn't get a second signet but i'll live.

Xaden is a venin? lol maybe this'll finally end their weird on and off relationship - i'm hoping. I couldn't care less about them to be honest, nor their weird vanilla sex life.

Love the dragons tho, need a book fixated on ONLY them.

Here we go again.

I really hope they don't fuck it up and make it like the ending of the first book again.

I need to see more good moments between Tairn and Adarna. I need fucking Xakinthos or whatever his name is to simply just be a better character, same from Violet. She's okay, she's not the worst but she's really getting on my nerves.

They killed Liam so why am I even here tbh.

Yeahhh...No.

It's too hasty in its plot movement and it's taking too much 'inspiration' from Mulan which makes it boring rather than interesting. It feels like a retelling of the live action movie rather than the animation that we all know and love.

It feels bland in that sense and definitely like a wattpad book in the worst way. Plot feels so rushed and characters suck.

Mulan retelling so I'm going to be extremely, extremely, extremely stubborn and stringent with it and I expect something that's at least somewhat good considering it is based on one of my absolute favourite disney princesses.

This could end up being one of the worst books i've ever read, because of it not meeting up to the right standard at all. but i have hopes and i'll try to be nice... :)

Sigh. The dragons didn't show up as much as I wanted to be honest with you.

And the central story kinda...Sucks a bit. It's entertaining I'll give it that and I'll probably read the second book but the last 50 pages were such a rough read. I just didn't care that much for the rushed battle and the conclusion of the 'secret' that also feels pushed.

Also they killed Liam. So why do I care

Hit an amazing spot of the book, the dragons!

I love Tairn and Adarna so much. So so so so much. They are the best characters and I REALLY hope they stick around.

They have the potential of sky rocketing this book all the way to the top and I hope they do it.

The other characters are shoddy. I only like Liam Miari to be honest. He reminds me of someone I know

Okay! I love how to train your dragon.

I hope it's kind of in that vein of thinking with how they portray dragons and their riders?

I have a feeling this will have a shoddy romance with some smut mixed in because it IS a booktok book that many classisics dislike. So, I'm not expecting much besides entertainment from how much I dislike the narrative!

Thanks St. Barnabus Library for having this I'm elated.

Okay! Loved any and all Hamilton/Shakespeare references and I'm ashamed to say how long it took me to realise the OBVIOUS Hamilton connection with the mother uncle and father deal

There was weird sex, as I expected. Very gracefully done though in Ian McEwan's case although some of it does in fact feel like it's a little too much... Cause it's a baby narrating

It was okay, wish the baby wasn't as precocious though

Another Ian McEwan!! And it's the book based on the Hamlet Quote that Helen told me about!!

Such a weird but interesting concept to be honest! I'm excited about it and I hope it has that weird Murakami sort of effect to it (without the offputting sexual nature that Ian McEwan may SOMETIMES fall into. But at least he's more graceful than Murakami could ever be,)

I did not expect the sapphic element! But i'm actually quite proud of it.

It does get blasphemous a little but in a way that is new and refreshing, Alice Walker is very well educated and aware of the differences in the religious system that has caused the division between races for so many years and even inspired it.

All in all I think it had a lot of similarities with other works but refreshing in it's own way too

Yay! A fun cultural read that is likely going to touch on the differnces in culture and race in oldern America. I don't ever get tired of these really.

I know that the book is structured in the format of letters written to god, in a similar manner to The Bluest Eye.

I'm expecting the main character to fall in and out of love with god several times in this depending on what she goes through. I hope this is true.

A lot to tkae in so far, the way it switches perspective is interesting but also jarring at sometimes.

I think all characters are really dislikable except for Lavenza? Whatever the Italian girl is called. She's cool.

Not sure where this is going to rank but it is heading for the 2 star spot at the moment just becuase of how slowly the storylines move and the confusion in plot

Woah! Crazy read, I want to watch the series now.

I really like the documentary style. Not only does it make the book feel easier to read but it provides the subtext of different perspective which leads to a lot of drama in miscommunication (in the sense that isnt trope-y) and humour.

I liked it more than I thought I would, which is good. I wish it was more dramatic of an event than just...Billy and Daisy though.

A completely random assorted pick from the library because I'd heard the title come up a lot! And I know it has a movie.

I really hope this is some batshit I, Tonya type. I really enjoyed watching I, Tonya and I think I'd like reading something of the same calibre about celebrities and the intricate lives behind the fame that leads them to do insane things.

If its not that, then oh well. But I am hoping!

Okay so June is an asshole - and I love it.

This book did end up having a plot rather than being more literary fiction based but I'm not mad about it, I think it actually works in its favour.

It is the first book in a long while to make me actually want to read it, so suffice to say it got me out of a pretty large reading slump and I'm grateful to it for that.

Also yellowface is bad, obviously. Don't do that.
