This book is much better than I was expecting so far, I expected this book to be something a bit more like that orca book I read, a fun read but obviously meant for children. But this book has so much flavor and background sadness and tragedy, the characters are from specific places and have accents, and there was a lot of hardship that the main character and her mom went through (I haven’t memorized the names yet)

On the one hand he’s starving and I can’t say what I would or wouldn’t do in that situation, but how could he leave his dog to die alone. I hate that.

I really enjoy reading about African culture, but I do wish the book presented a more chronological and focused narrative. The way the narrator is describing events feels very jumbled and almost scattered

I love this book so much!! It really makes you wonder what the cost of survival is. At first I was thinking that Knight had to balance his old life and his new one in order to not lose his identity, which in itself is an interesting train of thought I had while reading this book, but it seems that being a wolf vs being a dog isn’t a question of identity, but a lifestyle and a way of thinking.

So I got this at Barns and Nobles, it definitely feels really different from other wings of fire books. No traveling at all, and there are a lot of elements of the plot that feel like a fairytale. I really like the mystery, and the side characters are (as almost always) very endearing. I do wish that in certain scenes there was more show and less tell with what a character was feeling.
