After the movies with 2 of the socs, pony boy and his brothers offered to drive the girls home. He was surprised that the greasers and socs shared some of the same interests, while supposed to be enemies. this was different from what I expected to what I observed because they were laid out in the beginning of the book to hate each other, but they actually got along with each other in public.

I learned that darry is the oldest brother, and soda is the second oldest brother. Their mom and dad died in an auto wreck. socs/socials are west side rich kids, and a greaser is an east side poor kid. The socs are very abusive to the greasers, and held one of them down with a knife to his throat.
