Woah. I haven’t read a book in so long and this is such a good way to get back into it. Like no uninteresting filler- it’s a great book to help my poor short form content rotted brain reconnect with books. I’m in love.

I swear to god I’m actually gonna do it

Francie's father is such an interesting man. It's a shame how he feels inadequate, it feels as if he wanted to have freedom for a little while longer than he got, which is fair considering the time period. All of the little details about the waiter's uniform is beautiful. Beautiful, heartfelt chapter which I loved every second of.

More beautiful descriptions of life. I love Francie’s love of books. I also love the details about Frank and his horse. It just seems like a nice day for Francie and it makes me simply happy and enjoying the scenery Smith describes through Francie.

Beautiful depictions of life. It makes me thankful for all that I have. There’s an interesting boy girl separation happening with the children. When I was Francine’s age I always hung around girls and boys.

The narration of Wilson’s story confuses me, but I really enjoyed the scene of Gatsby telling Nick about Daisy. This chapter really came to life for me, but was thrown off at the end of the chapter as it quickly switches to Nick’s direct perspective of him rushing to Gatsby’s house.

This chapter gets a bit confusing, however I love the scenes in the hotel room. Why the perspective had changed to some Greek man approaching Wilson, I have no idea. This chapter is unorganized but I almost like it that way as it matches the feelings of everyone involved. It’s a mess and I love it.

This chapter goes into Gatsby’s past even though it’s unknown at the time of the story. Almost like it was pasted in by Nick, which is a bit confusing. I enjoyed the scene with Tom and Daisy going to one of Gatsby’s parties. I really love Nick’s perspective. There is so much beautiful writing in this chapter of descriptions and beautiful flashbacks. I can tell why this novel is a classic.

I feel like in chapter 5 Gatsby acts relatively reasonable, while Nick is once again the levelheaded character Daisy seems to be the one who begins acting the most unordinary. Gatsby actually seems to let his true emotions out. He wants to give Nick a job where he will make more money, (in his eyes, taking care of Daisy's family) and he wants everything perfect for the woman of his dreams. I love the visuals here.
