holy hell everything about this book is so dense it's making it difficult to digest. not that i'm not enjoying it, but i'm taking more time reading this than i expected.

idk the morbid curiosity got to me

thrice now has the chapter ended with a fade to black as a character explains the situation while another reacts gravely. i'm nitpicking but it's kind of annoying lol. otherwise, the lore is so good i'm obsessed.

and they meet (kinda)! the crone witch character confuses me because if she is an outcast, how does the mc talk to her in the way she does, so casually and semi-frequently? also why are maevyth's chapters written in first person but zevander's are written in third person? the lack of uniformity is baffling.

omg this book is so long, but the world-building is so good so far, i'm intrigued.
