I had to take a break from reading this and it's only getting worse. Nabokov managed to be so captivating in his writing that I am willingly reading this heinous book

One page in and I'm already revolted. This is going to be a mentally difficult read

Bruh Dorian is a real dick

Enjoying this so far, surprisingly easy to read despite the archaic language. Definitely no pacing issues with it thus far, they really threw my man Harker into the thick of it all

My heart is so full. Charlotte Brontë has created Helen Burns, who is so clearly exhibiting traits of ADHD, in a book written in the 1800s, well before it was first medically documented. From her inattentive day-dreaming to "standing on the sides of her shoes," this character touched my heart immediately, and I feel incredibly seen.

I'm not quite finished, but this novel feels more like a tragedy than a science-fiction or horror genre? Certainly aspects of the story are tinged with sci-fi, namely the creation of Frankenstein's Monster, but overall it reads with a lot of sadness and internal conflict and pain
