Actually liking Ashley, I think she’s shy but will turn out to be one of Mer’s good friends. Also Aspen, did he really move on that fast?! Im excited for her to meet the prince. The pacing is really good. The rebels will probably be a major plot point soon. Mer should rizz the prince with the instruments in her room. I’m excited to meet the stiff proper prince, I’m sure Mer will have fun messing with him :)

So slowwwww. Also WHY IS ARAGORN LOWKEY CRUSHING, I’m jealous!

So far the story has been focused on the build up of preparing for battle, but the plot needs to pick up. Idc about Saruman, I wanna know what Sauron is up to. And what Frodo and Sam are doing! Too much focus on extras being recruited for the cause.

I was worried the Ents would be annoying like Tom Bombadil, but they’re not so bad. They’re even kinda funny. Merry and Pippin are actually so goated, they’re marching to Isengard even though they’re not fighters. What brave and loyal friends! I’m surprised they’re already heading to Isengard, the plot is moving along quickly (in a good way). Hopefully it doesn’t drag on like book 1 did!

Ampert’s death was horrifying, poor kid. I love Maysilee she’s my favourite, I don’t want her to die. There’s only 2 Careers left, I hope the Newcomers won’t have to turn on each other.

The meeting with Snow was pretty weird dialogue-wise. Plutarch’s ancestor being named Trajan (one of the good Roman emperors) is a nice detail I noticed. Lou Lou highlights the cruelty of the capital. So many people are depending on Haymitch now, poor guy. Beetee carries the Games tbh. Maysilee is amazing. Him getting a 1 was expected. Is part 2 gonna be him playing the “rascal” and part 3 the Games?

So it seems they will have a big alliance. District 7 girl seems chill

OHHHH I forgot in the old days they went to the academy for their mentors… are they gonna meet Snow?!?! That would be wild

-Maysilee is such a slay for slapping Drusilla! Let’s gooo my queen!
-Wyatt seems like a chill guy tbh. All the mistrust for him set up in this chapter makes it seem like it’s a misunderstanding.
-I actually think all the district 12 crew are gonna help each other out, but district 1 is definitely gonna be an enemy

Love the simplicity of the plot, the writing is whimsical, and I ship Schmendrick and Molly Grue so muchhhh (I already know they end up together but even if I didn’t I’d still ship them)

- Maysilee was kinda slay for standing up for Louella.
- So they killed the Coveys who were adults and the Covey children are confined to district 12
- Lenore Dove knows about Lucy Gray? Also I think they always say Lenore Dove instead of just Lenore, which is parallel to Lucy Gray. It’s a nice detail.
- Wyatt seems chill
- I’m surprised that they got a birthday cake for Haymitch.
- Plutarch’s backstory pls

- Katniss’ dad saving Peeta’s dad was a nice moment!
- Plutarch is here!!! Lowkey messed up tho for wanting to broadcast their distress
- Drusilla is TERRIBLE, Effie is way better. Are we going to get a mention of her in this book?
- Not letting them say goodbye to their families is messed up, also imagine the people reaped who didn’t have anyone to say goodbye to :(
