I am hate reading it at this point.

The FMC is an idiot.

She’s an idiot and it’s giving me the ick.

Very slow start but now I’m hooked. I was ready for the slow burn (love it) but I also found the writing and story incredibly slow and tedious at first.

So far, dumb. Instalove. No idea why these two even like each other.

This is a re-read for me and I’m just as obsessed as the first time. Jack Turner-Smith the book boyfriend GOAT.

I love Annabel so I am pushing through… but wow I cannot get into this and just have a great deal of second hand anxiety.

Ok fine, I’m reluctantly obsessed and all I’ve thought about today is how soon I can get home to keep reading this.

I am mildly concerned that I am this far in and have no idea what’s going on. No clear idea of what the setting looks like but the author talks about it like I should. No understanding of the dynamic between Brynn and, well, anyone. Will keep reading but while scratching my head and whispering, “what is going on…”

I love fantasy and yet I start every single book so skeptical… “this is so dumb, I’m supposed to believe there are these magical gods creating a war?…” And of course I always end up totally immersed and hooked but this one is slower to get there for me.

This book is going to destroy me, isn’t it?

I’m struggling. The protagonist is infuriating.

This is my rebound book after Onyx Storm, trying to shake that hangover, so maybe this book didn’t stand a chance for me from the start… Woof these characters (and their non-existent communication skills) are the worst.

Took the day off work, read for 6 hours, still only roughly 40% through 😅
