Really wanting to like this book, but feeling force-fed (no pun intended) things that I would have preferred to infer on my own. There are also small things — as a writer — that point to this being the author’s first novel that have distracted me at times. It could have benefited from another round of editing. Sort of triggering just to be triggering as well imo.
