I'm... pretty bored.

There's a lot of promise in the world but I'm finding the plot a bit slow, and I'm a bit... bored.

I'm confused. I've been thrown in at the deep end and still don't know what's going on. 🤔

So, you realise this wolf you've been obsessed with is a werewolf who was abused by his parents and has literally just been shot... And you kiss him? 🤔

I'm a bit confused by the fact werewolves took a child, and then nibbled on it a little but didn't kill it?!?

Really enjoying this - it's reminiscent of The Priory of the Orange Tree, in a good way.

Uncomfortable with the depiction of Chinese people in this book. There was one instance with a Chinese man selling drugs and speaking broken English, and multiple references of Chinese dealing opium in London and Asia.

Not really hooked as I haven't connected to either of the main POV characters. Mimi has only had such a small amount of airtime. :-/

Sameth is a little annoying, I prefer Lirael and Dog.

Interesting world building and premise, enjoying the queer rep too, but I'm not a huge fan of first person present tense and I'm not that emotionally invested in the characters.

Super interesting to see the early drafts of NK Jemisin's novel ideas. Although the latest story I read made me want to reread the Broken Earth trilogy!

Enjoying this so far, although woah some of them are quite dark!

Struggling to put this one down. Venice inspired YA fantasy with lots of political family intrigue!

I tried to push through this but found it a slog. Densely written, with a shallow Prince who spends most of his time whinging. Love interest and foster sister Robyn seems annoying. The make up of the party of adventurers hits all the classic stereotypes.

Binged 100 pages in one sitting! The story jumps straight back into the action and is racing along at breakneck speed.

Enjoying this but already overwhelmed by facts. Feel like I'm not going to remember much of it, I should be taking notes!

Omg how can Tats still be treating women like goods to be traded? It drove me mad in the last book and has come up again :-(

I've been sporadically plodding my way through this since April and have decided to give up for now, and come back when I'm fresher. The only reason I've persisted for so long is that the subject matter is interesting - it's just very drily written.

Starting to get bored with Mercy continually saying she's not pretty. The men in her life seem to think differently and it'd be nice to have her show some self-confidence / happiness with her looks.

Although the writing style is poetic, the continual stream of consciousness is tiring and I find myself getting bored and skim reading.

It was slow to kick off, and is still fairly slow in its pace, but I'm enjoying it but not loving it. I'm hoping that it picks up soon though as I'm almost halfway through and barely anything has happened.

I'm skim reading this now. It's rather childishly written, which means despite the really fascinating world building, the plot and characters aren't holding my attention.

Really punchy, fast paced fantasy. There's a lot to like. It's reminding me of An Ember In the Ashes meets Truthwitch.
