Xerxes built 2 damn bridges from Asia to Europe to invade Greece. Athens is leading the naval fleet and Leonidis is leading 300 veteran Spartan on a suicide mission to hold a pass. Even after he was told by the prophet of Delphi an offspring of Hercules would die in order to beat the Persians. He goes to the mountain pass that Hercules burnt himself alive to ascend to Godhood and finds immortality in the same place.

Athenians marched to meet their invaders.Seeing some of the Persian fleet head off to take Athens by sea, they knew they had to attack.On the line is their city destroyed,women raped, sons castrated,enslaved.They slaughtered them and ran them to the sea.Only to then march 26 miles in one day to beat them to Athens and scare the horde back across the Aegean.That is where you get Marathon runs from.
