Been speeding through a little re-read refresher before starting The Shadow Bride. I forgot how GOOD this book was. I hope the second is just as good.

I can’t tell how much I like this book because I feel like I’m confused too often.
This also reminds me quite a bit of One Dark Window.

I feel like there is POTENTIAL for where she has taken this story line to be good….
I have zero faith in the author to make it as epic as it could be.

I have a theory and I really really don’t like it and I hope it’s closer to my more loose, unlikely theory before this one sprouted.

My curiosity is peaked enough to not be bored with the story anymore.

Good enough that I’m going to pre-order book 2 for release next month. Hoping to see some character growth from Medra. I’d request more honesty from Blake… but I know that’s futile and he’ll keep lying to “protect” Medra. They always do. Fucking assholes.

This book could have been a LOT cooler if the voice in her head was a dragon that bonded to her and that’s how she ended up in the world. She died in her other world and a dragon pulled her from death to its world and bonded her.
Her dead mom she never met doing it and then living in her conscious? Gave me the ick.

Ok this has gotten less exciting. I’ve found an ick, and the plot is starting to lean too much into the romance and I fear this FMC isn’t going to become the badass I really want her to. And that sucks. We’ll see though! There’s room for growth!

Was not expecting to like this so much I stay up until 2am reading it on a work night.
Actually having difficulty telling myself to go to bed right now instead of pulling an all nighter.

I was genuinely not expecting LIKE this. And I wish I would have expected this to be a series…

Definitely ending on a cliff hanger that makes me want to read book 3 to see how it ends, but I know I won’t like it and ai’d rather spend my time looking for books I enjoy. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Fallon is actually SO insufferable in the book I genuinely question whether or not I‘lol be able to finish it. Unless there’s some character growth REAL soon, I may DNF.

Jesus Fallon, get the ACTUAL fuck over yourself. My GOD this is the most insufferable FMC I have experienced in all of my reading so far.

I can already tell I’m just not gunna like this book, but the enemies haven’t become lovers yet… so on the journey I remain. 🙄

It’s not really good, but I’m invested nonetheless. This FMC is HARD to like though. I keep hoping she’ll stop being so absolutely immature, and I am just continually disappointed.

I’ll eventually get through this?
I don’t find it to be dull, but I just can’t get hyped about it the way all of the fantasy readers I follow do.
