Continues to be fascinating - deeply researched, fun to read, widely informative. Unfortunately, Watson continues to forget that the world exists outside of Western Europe, the US, and occasionally Soviet Russia.

This protagonist is not having a good time. Man, I like the present (vs the past!)

Having an absolute blast. Discovering so many great poets I’d never before encountered. Highly recommend as a nightly ritual.

There’s more yikes (eg upsetting content) here than I expected, so I’m not sure if I’ll keep reading, but I loved the Nussbaum intro! (And not just because I’m biased)

I continue to be impressed by this book. It’s both comprehensive and readable — genuine page turner. My only critique is that I wish he remembered the rest of the world besides Western Europe and America existed :/ :/ :/

Watson pulls off an astonishing feat: writing a sweeping intellectual history of the 20th-century that's nonetheless lively and engaging. Loving it thus far! (only 700 pages left :sideeye)

Making slow progress. Honestly my favorite poetry anthology

This book is 2073 pages long, I’m never going to finish it. It’s also my favorite poetry anthology I’ve ever found, so I plan to enjoy the journey!
