DNF idk even how far I got. It was cute and fun, but again, I struggled with the audiobook. I need to stop trying to listen to fiction.

So far the stories have been "meh", but Truth of Dare hit me like a gut punch.

I'm having a hard time finishing books, lately. Reading this at work and a customer comes up. They ask how my book is and I say "it's good! Just trying to hit my reading goal for the year. Almost there!" They ask my goal and I say "it's only 45 books this year..." and they interrupt me by saying "ONLY?!" I guess I needed that reminder. I've probably read more books this year than many people read in their lives...

My only real gripe so far is that there are SO MANY kids I can't keep them all straight. I only know who about half of them actually are.

Everything is exactly as I expected it and I'm still upset.

I had initially started reading this as an ebook but decided to switch to audio because I'm working on some crafts, and I'm so glad I did. The audiobook includes some foley work and singing and other descriptive sounds which is really fun.

This one is hitting a lot harder than AJW's precious books. As an anarcho-communist, it's hittin real close to home. I may or may not be crying in the long vaccination line rn.

Take a shot every time the word "preternatural" is used.

How am I going to finish this book about EXCLUSIVELY awful old men?

Reading this, I'm having to be hyper-aware of the fact that THIS IS A WORK OF FICTION and taking every little detail as such, which is taking me out of the story a lot tbh. I'm mostly reading because my deeply homophobic, Catholic stepmother is very proud of her Scottish heritage and INSISTS that she's a distant relative of Mary, and writing Mary as queer is hilarious to me.

Just about done, and overall loving it, but I am DISGUSTED (not in a good way, in a very bad, very "this is straight up ableist, victim-blaming, exploitative bullshit" way) with Will Stockton's essay. Like, please read this, but I suggest skipping the essay on Child's Play. I'm probably knocking a full star off for that one.

I'm sorry for all the updates I'm kind of writing as I go so I don't forget but this book just gut-punched me and made me cry. I haven't cried at a book in years.

I can't get over the role reversal and just how INTENSE it is. "Here to talk about SA against men - A BUNCH OF WOMEN!"

What in the Crimson Peak...

21 pages in and I am HOOKED by this writing style. I don't expect everyone will, but it's such a fun new pace to read.

My loan is about to expire 😫 but honestly probably for the best because I think I need to physically read this instead of audiobook it. The narrators voice is wonderful but I get Roos and Ruth mixed up and then get confused 😅
