This is my first book I'm reading by Helon Habila and so far I'm loving the language the author writes in.

The Character of Mamo is really capturing my heart and i love how Habila so far as spoken on the sickle cell disease and biafran war. I am looking forward to what the rest of the book brings.

What first drew me into this story was the cover and title Pachinko.

This book has covered a wide range of topic, from Korean/Japanese history, to Christianity and missionary,sexuality, marriage and much more. I have certainly enjoyed Jin Lee's writing style, straight forward. I am a bit disappointed in the lack of depth in some of the characters story line especially the suicide of Noa.

I was a bit disappointed in the ending of this book, perhaps I was hoping for a slightly more cliche ending. However I certainly did not expect her to want to be bought by another man. It opens up the discussion of bride prices and whether or not they are demeaning towards women and an outdated custom.

I am loving the historical accuracy so far, and the cultural aspect of the book. I am interested in the development of the main character Ogbanje.

A very interesting and engaging read so far.
