I important trait of Paul is that he is eager to protect his loved ones. whatever the consequences. When the Reverend Mother arrives Paul's mother Jessica makes it clear that she is a very powerful woman. Knowing this Paul doesn't hesitate to stand up to her when she puts down his mother which is shown when he siad "you take a lot on yourselves" his sarcastic tone surprises the mother who could kill Paul in a moment.

Katniss shows us that we rely on the people around us. On page 123 She talks of joining the rebellion and what happens to Prim how she will get hurt by the capitol when she realizes the capitol has hurt her many times, starving her and killing her father are just two examples. Katniss says "Prim. . .Rue. . .aren't they the very reason I have to try to fight" it shows that without them she wouldn't be where she is.

Gale isn't scared to put himself first. One example of this at the end of chapter 7 when he tackles the Peace Keeper to a protect a grandma. "He slumps unconscious on his knees, held up only by the ropes at his wrists. What used to be his back is a raw, bloody slab of meat." These are the events that followed gale act of bravery on page 108 yet he is unfazed and knows what he did was the right thing to do.

Katniss doesn't mean to hurt anyone especially her loved ones. This is shown when Gale says "I love you" and she responds "I know" knowing it was a horrible response. Katniss Thinks "But the happiness has fled, leaving an all too familiar strain in its place" 82. This is Katniss talking about Gales reaction to her response. Yet this quote shows that Katniss knows she's hurt him but cant do anything about it.

Katniss starts to learn the empathy. On page 67 when Haymitch says " "Between the three of us, I though we could bring you home" "oh" is all I can think to say". This quote just shows how Katniss wasnt really able to put herself in Peeta shoes and really was focused on herself but now since she is learning empathy she realizes how the games must have looked from Peeta's perspective.

Katniss is just a naive 16-year-old girl. On page 57,, Katnisss asks Haymitch to just get her through the victory tour, which he responds to, "Even if you pull it off, they'll be back in another few years to take us all to the games." Katniss at first doesn't understand 16-year-she is just a naive 16-year-old. Then she begins to understand that it's never older. It will be her Peeta, Haymitch and The Capitol forever.

A virtue that Katniss shows is sacrifice at the end of the book when her and Peeta decide they will eat the nightlock berries like it says on page 345 it says "I lift my hand to my mouth taking one last look at the world" She doesn't know what gonna happen if that capital will care but she doesn't care she will sacrifice her life to show up the capital and show them her life isn't just a piece in their game.

On pg 228 it is interesting how Katniss realizes what the games have done to her. After she is spared by Thresh, she tells him how she tried to save Rue and, when she couldn't, shot her killer, buried Rue in flowers and sang her to sleep. The book says "And I sang her to sleep. Tears spring in my eyes. The tension, the fight goes out of me at the memory". This shows how everything about the Games hits her at once.

On page 226, Katniss shows determination. She does this when she destroys the Careers pile of food and weapons. Her choosing to ally with Rue was an excellent choice. After destroying the pile of food and weapons, Katniss starts to believe in her chance at winning the Games. "Let the 74th Hunger Games begin, Cato, I think. Let them begin for real.", she says. This is showing how her determination finally pays off.

On page 128, Katniss shows the trait of determination, in order to win over the people of Panem when she is interviewed on TV. During the interview she flips an switch and acts differently: "I'm also giggling, which I think I've done maybe never in my lifetime. But the nerves and the spinning have gotten to me". This shows her determination to save her life no matter what the cost even her dignity.

One important part is when, at dinner, Katniss recognizes an Avox but Peeta changes the topic. After dinner she needs to talk about how she knows the Avox. We understand this when she says, "I realize I do want to talk to somebody about the girl" (pg 83). Katniss remembers how she saw the girl captured and another boy killed by soldiers, but she did not help them. This story shows us the cruelty of the government.

One trait to describe Gary is thankful. One example was when he throw his jacket over the fence because he hated it so much, but he still went back to get his jacket. " I flung it over the fence but later swiped it off the ground."(3). This shows how thankful Gary is despite not getting what he wants.
