On page 120, The Mysterious Words from the Past was very interesting. "Heavens above. Indicates surprise. What heavens means is unclear. It might be another word for floodlight". (120) This is very interesting because it is questioning what the word heavens means. To many, heavens isn't a word that they know. It is often taking out of context and by questioning it, you can begin questioning other thing.

On page 78 I was surprised because the blackout lasted for so long and Lisa was waiting for so long without Poppy. This surprised me because the longest blackout only lasted for 3 minutes and this one was way longer. It shows that Ember is declining more and more everyday and its very obvious the mayor doesn't care. If the current mayor gets replaced then Ember will once again prevail and become the great city it was

On page 45, Doon confronted the mayor for his abuse of power, horrible leadership, and what is going on to Ember. "Suddenly Doon spoke up. But Emberis not prospering! he cried. Everything is getting worrse and worse! Silence! cried the mayor. The blackouts! cried Doon" No one would confront the Mayor because they were all terrifed of what he would do to them. Doon is a very brave individual and he cares about Ember.

A part of the book that was displeasing was the ending. Veronica Roth ended the book off with a cliffhanger and she left so many questions unanswered. "Abnegation and Dauntless are both broken, their members scattered. We are like the factionless now." This gives very vague information and doesn't tell a lot about what happened to Tris and Four, or what is going to happen to the Erudite.

A part of the book that surprised me was on page 360 when Tris agreed with Jeanine. This surprised me because Jeanine is the person who has written many things about Tris and her family and by confirming these things to her, she will likely create a new story on the newspaper that confirms her reports.

A part of the book that surprised me was on page 335 when Four's aptitude test was revealed to be Abnegation, Four fits in with the dauntless so well, so it was very surprising that he was a transfer because in the begining of the book it said that one of the governments officals son's was a transfer and the transfers name was Tobias. It was revealed that four was in fact Tobias, this blew my mind.

One thing that surprised me was on page 187 when Tris's mom told her "I can't go visit your brother, but you can, when initian is over. So I want you to go find him and tell him to research the simulation serum." This surprised me because it seems like her mom knows something that we don't and she is hiding something very important. This serum sounds like the factions and the aptitude test is all a lie

Something that surprised me in this few chapters was when Tris took the position of Albert in the knife throwing practice. In my opinion she was very courageous to do this. Most people I know wouldn't dare do this and it is more surprising that she did it for one of the biggest kids there. This shows that Tris is not only brave, but selfless as well which shows her Abnegation side.

On page 15 a shocking part was when Beatrice was not scared of the dog, "My arms are shaking. It barks in my ear, and I clench my teeth to keep from screaming. Something rough and wet touches my cheek. The dog's growling stops, and when I lift my head to look at it again, it is panting. It licked my face." In that situation I would have been terrified so I think she was very brave for doing that.

Guy B is finished with The Jacket
One important part of this story is when the narrator gets a new jacket, and he gets bullied for the jacket. An example of this is when he gets pushed to the ground during recess and he has to stand with the "ugly" kids all because of his jacket. In the text it states "During the morning recess Frankie T., the playground terrorist, pushed me to the ground." This proves that he got bullied because of the new jacket.
