I personally am not a fan of how descriptive the writing style is when an accident has occured. I understand that it was writen this way, however, to showcase the emotions that one would have felt being in that situation. It helps bring imagery and value to the story, even if it is a bit gory.

I character that I often disagree with is Tara's father. I think his possible Bipolar or other mental disorder can cause him to make decisions that I might not have made in that situation. His brain simply might work a different way than mine, leading to a disagreement of actions.

In her apartment at college, Tara doesn't worry about the cleanliness of herself or her apartment. Her roommates expect her to do her share of the chores yet Tara believes that "if the stench [is] bearable, the house [is] clean" (Westover 160). This pushes her further away from fitting into the group of college students as chores are expected behavior from roommates. She isolates herself and starts to feel worthless.
