This is, quite possibly, the BEST historical romance book I’ve ever read, and my teenage self probably went through hundreds of those (though they are not documented on this app). Sapphic, diverse characters, a looming threat, etc…Hell yes

If I wasn’t aware this was a straight love story, I would be deeply convinced both of these main characters were bisexual and in love with their friend/general. They are bisexual to #me

I’ve owned this duology for a good two years, and I’m finallyyyy getting to reading them!!
Love love love that this story tackles such heavy topics and themes (and I’m only four chapters in!). I can tell this is going to be a loved series by me

I am so deeply in love with Charlotte, it’s not even a little bit funny. She gives the same vibes as Louis in ‘Interview with the Vampire’ (tv show!!!), and Louis is one of my all time fav characters.
Also Alice and Sabine are stunningly written, I cannot even comprehend. I am obsessed with this book.

I’m obsessed with this book. It’s so dark, so heartbreaking and traumatizing…but so stunning too. The rare bits of hope and joy are SO good (Alistair and Gavin??? I am living for them). The story itself is one chef kiss in the making
