Slow-paced so far but always vivid and sometimes anxiety-inducing. But when crap hits the fan, it happens so fast. Also I wish I can find a Harris Tweed jacket for $20 though I'm happy with my $50 one (that I had to tailor for another $50)

That entire chapter about the competition held at Cart-Slow is definitely a dig at Taoism

I didn't expect to read such tea. Harold Urey, famous for Miller-Urey experiment, was Carl Sagan's BSc thesis advisor and stabbed him in the back during his track to tenureship?

The descriptions of the ISS are so spot on and the author has done her research

Jeez Laura, have some empathy and drop the scientist shtick for once. How would you feel if aliens visited your space and took you as a specimen

I guess Jimmy's crash was lowkey a blessing on disguise? I guess he would have explored a lot less if he was airborne the entire time. It's impressive that the story has little action yet you can never predict what will happen next

All this sky-biking around has been a bit anticlimactic thus far, I have a feeling that something bad will happen to Jimmy

It just occurred to me that Rama is an O'Neill Cylinder. Written 3 years before it was cool. Clarke is truly a visionary.

I didn't know that the K-7 station was based on a real and very random space station conceptual design. I really need to find the original paper. Heck, the entire 1960 Manned Space Stations Symposium proceedings. Why Roddenberry chose the Douglas Aircraft design over other colony-like station concepts like the Von Braun/Potočnik wheel confuses me.

Thank you to Schiffer Publishing for sending me a copy of this book to review and promote on Galactic Greaser. Pausing all my other current reads to get into this one, seems interesting.

I don't think Tom's death was an accident. Someone must have sabotaged the helicopter before his flight. I don't want to jump to conclusions yet, but I suspect that this was an inside job to let Chad become prime commander and fly to the Moon.

Vitaly's SOURCE? One of the Apollo 18 astronauts is a KGB spy? I suspect he's probably not a prime crew member as it's described that his assignment on this mission would make him front-of-the line for Skylab and Shuttle.

And given that "Bobs" Crippen and Overmeyer are real people in the backup crew, it couldn't be them. I don't know, I have a bad feeling about Chad...

Yet another simple slipup. I understand the author's intention of drawing parallels between space shuttle Columbia and Apollo 11's Columbia. But it was Eagle, not Columbia, that Armstrong landed on the Moon.

This is officially my favorite description of thermoelastic deformation.

The author seems to have made a typo on page 158 stating that the Saturn "1C" launched Skylab 2 instead of 1B, and repeated the error here. With a book this thoroughly researched and well-presented so far, this simple slip-up was unexpected.
