Captivating story. I could feel the energy and applaud how something quite difficult and painful- fully changing your life- was propelled by self discovery. Shows you that authenticity is key ingredient to acceptance.

Rigatoni Baloney is reading The Dutch House
I assumed the setting would be Holland, so surprised it’s Philadelphia. Sometimes difficult to carry Maeve and Danny’s frustrations, but the fact I felt it demonstrates quality writing. Loved the end.

Rigatoni Baloney is reading Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End
One of the most important books I’ve ever read. Repeatedly brought tears to my eyes because it’s written so humanely I felt the suffering. It’s a wake up call for everyone without a plan.

I don't know what the big deal is with this book. There's nothing revaltory about it, at least not to me. Plus the editing is poor and therefore it's hard to read. He mentioned a friend not wanting to leave his grandmothers house alone after her death because an empty home is attractive to vagrant druggy squatters You don't leave a house "alone". An editor should have changed that to vacant.

Slow going: my sister in law told me ahead of time it's all symbolic. I don't love this genre but I'm reading it.

Rigatoni Baloney is reading The Story of a New Name (Neapolitan Novels, #2)
Tore through this book as I'd waited for a library copy then gave up because I wanted to know what happened. All I wanted to do was read this book and nothing else. I should have asked my friends who apparently all read the series without telling me. Now I'm almost done with the third.

I checked this out of the library prior to the specialist orals. It was amusingly enlightening after already working in an embassy the past two years. Much of the day to day explained. Importance of ambassadorial leadership emphasized, and it's easy to see why if you ever work in Emb where it's absent in either position or character.

It's slow going but all the reviews say stick with it. Doesn't help that this is a big heavy hardback so I don't carry it out of the house.

I lived in the VI for 12 years so I like the book so far: even though the incest disgusts me it doesn't surprise me.

It was slow at first, and I could only read it in bits and spurts. I'm on the second part, (Commander Ga) and it's completely captured my attention. Nevertheless, as a free American, contemplating the story takes enormous empathy so I still only read it in bits and spurts.
