Figs. Figs are known for its high estrogen properties, and often in Tarot, figs are a symbol of fertility and femininity. It being Achilles and Patroclus' favorite fruit just makes so much sense.

Recently learned about Adlerian psychology and discovered this self-help classic follows their principles so I had to give it a try.

Reading this is like watching how trauma can affect someone's life. Eleanor's body clearly kept score of the trauma she experienced from her overly critical mother which became her inner voice. Her choice of partner (abusive ex) and constant search for external validation (expecting a male stranger to be her "savior") are all effects of that. Her journey to awareness feels depressing, but I'd say is very realistic.

Eleanor reminds me of Sheldon and Fleabag. So awkward and unsocially aware

Re-reading because I recently started enjoying running! Might feel different in a fresher lens

Nearing the end of the book but still haven't got any "answer" promised by the title or the book. Revealing the protagonist's unique power (being able to taste the emotion in food) was overpowered by a side character's story(her brother's weird disappearance). Hopefully there's something waiting by the end of the book. Not hating on the book, though it almost seems like reading off a child-teen's diary than a novel.

Cool concept, slow and easy to digest. But nothing really compares to Asian fiction when talking about food. Asian fiction is much more visual, detailed, and delicious. I think the author could've been more descriptive of the food while playing out the concept of "tasting emotions".

Peculiar but regulating and feel-goody, like reading children's fiction.

Some women are much like men - they impose unrealistic yardsticks on other women.

It can be disheartening to be a woman sometimes.

Getting a sense that this book is about how some men extremely "maternalize" women and how some of them demand to be served like disabled babies.

Other ways this book could be titled:
1. Men without women
2. How women kill
