I like the way it’s written and the metaphors are intriguing. not sure if the translated version reflects the author’s true intentions but i’ll never be able to know that, just curious

I went into this book not really knowing what to expect, I just loved the title.
It’s written in/about the 1800s and I guess I thought it would be more of a nature diary. It seems that all the animals he’s known, he’s also tried to trap, maime or kill. Sure some die of a “natural” death - being hunted by predators or not surviving the elements - but I’m halfway through and wondering if I want to continue
