critique on holiness and skepticism and the power of love. easy enough read and powerful none the less

ngl ima probably have to look up the meaning of each story but i think this one was about trying to finesse a man who put people in s wise state and trying to empathize with him when it is revealed that only the worst parts of him are true?? idk im spit balling

gonna be mean but what the heck happened. this book had so much charm and potential — cassie’s speak had so much to say and then it got lost in the sauce of calling a church woman a slut? i lost the message the author was tryna say because want the dom thing supposed to be empowering? the last few chapters felt like very irritant rough drafts and everything felt so rush from tiffany to vine to dom to cass. shame

this book gonna get a half star rating from me because i’m a little confused to what it’s tryna say

like there was no need to point it out the mai’s was black as the narrator did but again wealth and social dynamics play a big role and the reason why this family gets to enjoy these privileges is due to their wealth but when they are called out on it it feels threatening to them and now here is there daughter realizing the global harm that has environmentally socially politically and economically

i like vinnie he’s cute and charming. i like the difficulty time the family is having with cassies meltdown. i sorta like the reasoning behind cassie’s meltdown it sorta draws on what i don’t like about this book. i sorta think being called cheap is not the insult this book makes it or to be and the reason it might feel this way is because it makes the narrator confront her privilege and she won’t.

there is a future like alien guy who may be cute and for a second i thought i was getting into this book but it lost me again sorry

i like this book a lot so far! suspenseful and a little spooky and very descriptive!!! i feel like i’m watching a coming of age movie with a young narrator telling me everything before it all went south: what is up with cassie??! and vinnie i don’t trust him. maybe some racial tensions? young list and academic validation pressures, i’m eating it up

ok this book is a chore with how flowery it is but it does make me think a lot about what role i could play in the mental health/ health care aspect of it all which isn’t great

this seems like a book i will like a lot

gatsby like a kid pulling out all his stops on the first go… the light at the deck, the clippings. seems to be working out better for him than it did for me tho

tom is not shy about his affair and it is clear the wealth and status he carries which to many is desirable. why else would you forgive a smack? but also tim knows he belongs with daisy society wise

ima have to sparks note every chapter: daisy unhappy gabby and his green light nick is new money and tom is old and jordan is a little strange and daisy doesn’t like to be a mom and all of this i remember from hs (tho why any teacher would expect a hs er to follow along with this flower as language is beyond me)

THEY KISSED and we never got told what a decker was or how it worked and so many povs and so dramatic but i prolly would have ate it up as an angsty teen

why do i still not know what a decker is… everyone is so oooo dramatic. also why are there so many pov’s but now i see this guy is gonna wanna beat refuse up but mateo will save him. also will they kiss????

what is a decker and how is it determine also why does this system exist??? the writing style has me for a min with mateo but with rufus it feels icky. how do they know… but also excited to read a book that helps me remember every day is s gift and maybe that way i can too be less paranoid and maybe stop sleeping them awa. ik kayla likes this book so expectations are kinda high

i think this book has so much potential. it could have been messy, it could have said something but it instead chose to be unrealistic and throw in the towel early. everyone just assumes correctly in this book, what is the fun in that

wincing from a needle in the arm during infusion pissed me off. lmao

thinking about having crushes on friends’ exes and how sad and unnecessary this book will feel if b dies and get together. kinda icky. also i feel like david is cheating but he also seems so invested maybe i’m wrong. idk how this author is going to convince me to root for dannie and aaron

hmm i guess i was expecting the main character to not be where she wants to begin the book. i don’t find the writing charming (although s/o to the main line) and find it a little hard to root for someone whose life is going (as of rn) exactly how she wants. also sex scene so early on?? with what is technically a stranger?? like i said, not charmed atm

what is rom’s deal. also jarty is already losing this story to the higher ups so all his sneaking around was sorta pointless

i am hooked on all the mystery and sad every time someone else’s accomplishments are covered. as an atheist i do not know if this book will strengthen my current beliefs or poke holes at them, i just know it is beautifully devastating and i am about to learn more about the narrator

there was s chapter about feeling lost as a twenty something and a nurse and someone who wished them back

are you my mother? i liked that chapter about his in our twenties we don’t know who we belong to or who belongs to us

that many long term marriages struggle with affairs is a reality i do not feel ready to accept although i know there were times in my own previous relationship where how i felt about someone other than my partner would have upset me. i just don’t want to believe it could happen to me :( it would reinforce some notion in me that is already convinced i’m not enough
