I’ve missed the quiet ease of reading a Korean novel. There’s something comforting about experiencing someone else’s doldrums and ennui.

Okay definitely going to finish this tomorrow… I’m excited to see how it ends.

Hmmm… my interest is wavering. I’m not sure I like the pacing of the novel. It’s quite slow and there’s not enough action/drama happening in either of the main characters’ POVs to keep me hooked. Hopefully the plot thickens soon because I really don’t want to DNF another book.

Trying my very hardest to be more consistent with my reading. Hoping this book gets me out of my reading slump.

At page 150/390 and I don’t hate it, but I don’t really like it either?? I might continue reading it in the background of other more interesting books. It’s not bad enough to DNF, but neither the characters nor the plot are captivating to me. It’s not the kind of book you can’t put down, or don’t stop thinking about.

The prose is fluid and beautiful. I haven't heard anyone talk about this book so I'm excited to see where it goes. Historical fiction isn't my typical genre but I have the hardcover and the dust jacket design is one of my absolute favorites. This book is beautiful in person and so I finally decided to pluck it off my shelf and start reading it. I hope I like it.

I’m 115 pages into this novel and all the first two characters have done is recount all their previous romantic relationships with men. They’re all Nigerian women in their early to late thirties and so their stories are tinged with a disdain for men who wasted their time and a desperation for children they feel they’re getting too late to have. So far, nothing groundbreaking has been said. Tbh, I’m bored.

Just realized that this is one of those books without chapters. The whole novel is divided into Part 1 and Part 2, each part about 100 pages. Missing the chapter breaks but otherwise enjoying it so far.

In the mood for a suspense/drama.
