'But you will feel the wind here, Diamond.'
'I don't mind that a bit, so long as I feel your arms through it,' answered Diamond, nestling closer to her grand bosom.
'Brave boy!' returned North Wind, pressing him closer.
'No,' said Diamond, 'I don't see that. It's not courage at all, so long as I feel you there.'
I wish I could put the whole quote. The allegory in this story is so beautiful.

Getting into the pre-Christian era of Ireland. A good reminder of how dark and lost the world is without Christ. There are also a couple notes I disagree with the author on about interpreting the Bible.

"ONCE UPON A TIME there was a little dog, and his name was Rover. He was very small, and very young, or he would have known better; and he was very happy playing in the garden in the sunshine with a yellow ball, or he would never have done what he did."

What a great way to start a fun children's story! Immediately I have a sense of this dog's humorous character, along with an impending sense of disaster. 😂

I wrote this book in my late teens to very early twenties. In retrospect, I sometimes feel confident in it because of others' feedback, but often I question if it is worthy to be in book form at all. So, I am stepping back into that old world. Already I do see that my newer writings show improvement, but I'm finding it is still a good tale. I'm enjoying visiting with the old characters once more and reminiscing.

“An adventure is, by its nature, a thing that comes to us. It is a thing that chooses us, not a thing that we choose… In this degree the supreme adventure is not falling in love. The supreme adventure is being born.”
